We’re driven by music that shakes your chest. By films that deserve a room of their own. By the thrill of the game and the joy of sharing it. By the beauty of things that are well thought, well crafted, and well finished.
Behind every project is a love for the detail’s others might overlook—an appreciation for how a space can echo the rhythms of nature, the energy of live performance, or the calm of perfect stillness. It’s a pursuit of order with room for the organic.
For the company founder, Juan Cantero, most of his professional experience spans years of engineering large-scale, complex projects across the globe—highways, bridges, and the like. However, with a guitar in hand playing live with his band, a lifelong passion for music, cinema, and craftsmanship, he was always drawn to the magic of immersive spaces. His love for sound, storytelling, and thoughtful design naturally led him to create home theaters, music rooms, and man caves—not just as projects, but as personal expressions. Even while working on massive global projects, it was in these smaller, soulful spaces where he felt most at home.
What truly lit him up were these spaces—transforming regular rooms into sanctuaries. That’s where the real adventure was: turning ideas into reality and creating spaces that would change people’s lives.
And there is where The Basement Lab started taking shape. What began as a personal hobby became something others started asking for—not because it was just well-built, but because it felt right.
“At The Basement Lab, building a space is like a long-awaited journey” says Juan. “The design phase is like mapping out
the route, carefully choosing the path, stops and details. Then, the construction phase becomes the journey itself—full of
challenges and solutions, turning ideas into reality. The destination will arrive with the client entire satisfaction and joy”.
The Basement Lab is a collective of master designers, builders, and craftsmen who share a passion for reimagining basement spaces. Whether it’s for cutting-edge home theaters, immersive music rooms or bold entertainment spaces, we bring together the best in each field to deliver a truly exceptional experience.
